British Sign Language Training – delivered by experienced deaf tutors who will make sure that you learn in an engaging and entertaining way.
After completing our basic British Sign Language training course your staff will be able to:
- Understand that BSL has a structure of its own and is different from spoken English.
- Fingerspell using the BSL alphabet to spell out their name and places.
- Introduce themselves and others.
- Ask basic questions and give and receive other basic information.
What will you learn?
Our trainers are all deaf and will be excited about sharing their language with you and your staff. You will cover:
- Understanding BSL as a Language
- BSL alphabet and Fingerspelling
- At Work
It’s intensive, it’s exhausting but it’s so much fun your staff will want more!
Bespoke training for your business
Our British Sign Language training courses can be a half or full day and we can design them especially to meet your needs at no extra cost. So, for example, if you are a GP practice you might want to learn signs that are related to health so your service is accessible to deaf patients. If you employ deaf staff you might want your course designed around inclusivity, so everyone feels like a member of the team.
We can also provide a series of courses that will give your staff more confidence and fluency in BSL. This will prepare them strongly to move onto BSL level 1 if they choose to do so.
Sign Language Training
Did you know that there are over 60,000 people in the UK who consider British Sign Language (BSL) to be their first language? Have you ever served, work with or employed a deaf person who uses BSL and felt completely frustrated that you didn’t know even just a ‘little sign language?’
You can improve access to your business and customer service by giving staff the opportunity to learn BSL, and you can really improve inclusion in the work place if hearing and deaf colleagues can communicate with each other. In fact, your staff attending a British Sign Language training course may well be recognised as a ‘reasonable adjustment’ under the Equality Act 2010!
That said – we cannot stress enough how much fun it is to learn BSL and how much you can learn in 3.5 hours!

What our clients say
The basic (Sign Language) training provided a good insight into BSL and has given me the confidence to be able to communicate with my deaf colleague and hold small conversations but also the will to learn more.
