We are hiring for a:

  • Full Time Bookings Coordinator – Education Desk

Based in Thriplow, South of Cambridge

Salary up to £22,000 plus benefits to include gym membership, pension, bonus and 24 days’ holiday (plus bank holidays).

Job Description

Working as part of the Education team you will be supporting both Deaf students and those with other learning difficulties who require support in higher and further education.

This is a hugely rewarding job because you will be making a real difference to Deaf students entering into the world of higher or further education.

Your Skills

There are no specific skills required for the role other than to have a mature and confident telephone manner; an ability to prioritise workload and a willingness to work collaboratively in a highly supportive and social team; and a careful eye for detail so that bookings can be completed efficiently and on time.

Hours

This is a Monday to Friday appointment (37.5 hours) with start and finish times to be agreed. You will also be required to assist with our Out of Hours Service on a home-based rota arrangement. It is important that you have your own transport as public transport to this village is very limited.

We are Recruiting for Freelance BSL Interpreters

Interpreter roles will include education and health settings, meetings, social services, car theories, job interviews any many more, both in the public and private sector.

If you are registered with the NRCPD as an RSLI and looking to work in the legal domain, Clarion UK are the sole provider to a prestige contract with the Ministry of Justice – providing roles within legal settings.

Skills and Requirements

  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Accurate and swift BSL Skills
  • Ability to develop strong professional relationships
  • Degree in Level 6 award in BSL interpreting
  • Registered with the NRCPD as either a Trained sign language interpreter (TSLI) or Registered sign language interpreter (RSLI)

We are seeking: Professionals to work with Visually Impaired Students

We are looking for a range of support professionals to work with students who are visually impaired across the UK. The roles are as follows:

1. Mobility Trainer. £25.00 – £35.00 per hour

You will be a qualified Mobility Trainer with the ability to support, motivate and encourage students during their first few weeks at University. You will have a relevant degree, diploma, foundation course, BTEC or specialist qualifications.

2. Study Assistant. £12- £15 per hour.

You will be an experienced support worker, able to work with students with Visual impairments on a day to day basis in lectures, in the library or when essay writing. You will have relevant experience and training.

3. Specialist Notetaker for VI students, including Braille. £20.00 – £25.00 per hour.

You will have specialist notetaking qualifications or other relevant training.

4. Specialist Support Professional for Students with Sensory Impairment . £45 per hour.

We are looking for qualified support professionals for visually impaired students, who have the ability to support, motivate and encourage students to develop and achieve their full potential. You will provide bespoke 1:1 study skills tuition and have a relevant degree or PGCE and additional qualifications.

We are seeking a new Student Support Coordinator

Based in: Thriplow

Hours: 09.00-17.00, Monday to Friday (slightly reduced hours could be available)

Clarion UK is one of the UK’s leading providers of both interpreting services for Deaf people and student support services for those with additional needs.

Due to a large growth in the education sector in the past year, we are looking to fulfil the role of a Student Support Coordinator.

You will be the first point of contact for our new students and will be responsible for registering them onto the Clarion Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and gathering all relevant paperwork that we require to put their support in place.

You will also need to qualify information, request further detail, and check information as it arrives. You will work closely with our bookings team and our support workers and clients throughout the UK. 

The role is interesting, demanding and fulfilling. You will need to be articulate, have good IT and listening skills, be able to react quickly and efficiently to requests, and be able to prioritise your workload.   

It is important that you have your own transport as public transport options are limited.

Ideally you will have experience in higher education establishment as you would be required to work mainly within colleges and universities. You will have the ability to be sensitive to pupils’ needs and learning styles and should have an interest in and understanding of additional support needs 

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one study skills tuition to students enabling them to develop independent learning strategies.
  • To provide bespoke sessions for each student according to the needs of the individual student.
  • Deliver tuition according to Clarion guidelines and code of conduct.
  • Manage paperwork effectively, i.e. completing time sheets and Individual Learning Plans.

 

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Able to assess learners’ needs and devise an appropriate Individual Learning Plan
  • Advisory Teacher for Deaf students
  • OR
  • Advisory Teacher for Students with Multi-Sensory Impairments
  • OR
  • PGCE* and registered qualified BSL interpreter
  • OR
  • PGCE* plus specialist qualification in relevant subject e.g. Deaf Studies, English, Linguistics, Deaf literacy specialist qualification, Deaf Awareness qualification (specific to language acquisition) etc.

  • Leading successful IT transformation projects

  • Managing budgets successfully
  • Bringing projects in on time and to target
  • Shared ownership of project success with the project sponsor
